The Numbers Behind Every Swing

Our launch monitor captures ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, spin axis, smash factor, and attack angle on every swing — with your current driver and every demo head we test. These aren't averages; they're your actual numbers, swing after swing.

From there we build a picture of your delivery: are you swinging up or down on the ball? Is your spin axis tilted, sending shots left or right? Is your spin rate ballooning shots in the wind, or too low and knuckling out of the air? Every recommendation traces back to a specific number from your session.

What Actually Changes in a Driver Fitting

Loft & Face Angle

Modern adjustable hosels let us dial loft in half-degree increments. A golfer with a negative attack angle (hitting down on the ball) often needs more static loft than the number on the box to reach an optimal launch window.

Shaft Weight & Flex

Shaft weight influences swing speed and timing more than flex label alone. We test across weight classes and flex profiles to find the combination that produces the most repeatable strike and the tightest spin-axis dispersion.

Head Design & MOI

Moment of inertia (MOI) determines how forgiving a head is on off-center strikes. Higher MOI heads resist twisting on mishits; lower MOI, more compact heads often suit better players who want to shape shots on demand.

Length

A shorter, better-controlled driver frequently outperforms a longer one on center-strike percentage — which usually beats a few extra yards of theoretical max distance.

Center of Gravity (CG)

CG location (low-forward, low-back, neutral) shapes launch and spin characteristics independent of loft. Low-back CG heads generally produce higher launch with lower spin for players who need to add carry distance.

Grip Size

An oversized or undersized grip changes hand action through impact, which can quietly alter face angle at contact. We check grip size as part of every driver fitting.

Common Misses

What a Driver Fitting Can Fix

The Slice

A left-to-right spin axis tilt is usually a face-to-path issue, but the right shaft and loft combination can reduce curvature significantly while you work on swing mechanics. We'll also check whether a draw-bias head design is worth considering.

Low, Knuckling Shots

Insufficient spin and launch angle — often from too little static loft for your attack angle — causes shots to fly low and fall out of the air short of their potential distance. Adjusting loft and CG placement typically resolves this.

Ballooning in the Wind

Excess spin sends shots up and back, costing distance and making the ball vulnerable to wind. A lower-spin shaft or head combination, sometimes paired with reduced loft, flattens the flight.

Inconsistent Strike Location

If your dispersion pattern shows strikes scattered across the face, a higher-MOI head and a length/lie combination suited to your setup can shrink that pattern meaningfully.
